Comparing how batsmen get out in Cricket and Startups go out of Business?
Before tomorrow’s mega cricket match, here is some food for thought for fellow entrepreneurs. See if you can relate to this as an entrepreneur or business owner.
Clean bowled:
Unable to defend from competition(bowler) striking on wickets (loyal customer base) No clear feet or bat movement (no clear market or vision or brand )
LBW:
Missing the shot(execution or vision) and getting hit by ball(market) in front of wickets (loyal customer base)
Run Out:
Internal team conflicts causing you to get stranded and you run out of funds or growth or both.
Caught Behind:
Indecisive footwork (focus/strategy) causing you to edge the ball instead of powerful shot.
Caught in the Deep:
Not timing the shot and hitting in air (Raising Marketing spends before product market fit)
Stumped:
Getting deceived in flight (pivoting too soon) and competitors taking away your market because you left the crease (competition stumps you before you can get back)
Only one way to stay (Not Out) alive and Win handsomely
1) Focus on timing and try to play all along the carpet as much as possible (technique)
2) Play every ball on merit (avoid Hubris and Nervousness)
3) Coordinate well with your partners (partnerships win you matches)
