One of my biggest passion has been around improving metro ridership and I am greatly fascinated by how we’ve reduced our metro stations to un-friendly industrial monstrosities devoid of any soul (do see some improvements with corporate sponsorships of metro stations in Gurgaon and Delhi adding colour and vibrancy)

A lot of people from gen z and gen alpha got exposed to airports and cars before they got exposed to a metro and hence their expectations of UX/CX are different from those of us who threw in a towel via a window into a STB (if you don’t know what an STB, don’t bother googling). For starters :
  • An electronic board with the ETA and time to destination of central vantage points would make ambiguity far less for those who are willing to try something to beat the traffic but are unsure of how long they have to wait and how long it will take
  • A comparison of the time it takes by road Vs metro to key vantage stations — for eg., majestic/whitefield/Indira nagar in Bangalore, central in Chennai, or GK/CP in Delhi. Over a period of time, this should definitely start thawing more people with sheer rationale.
  • Brighter lights at the point of entry rather than the David Fincher-ish yellow/grey lighting that welcomes you. Helps first time women passengers feel invited and definitely safer.
