Continuing with the earlier theme of what it takes for someone who has grown up on car rides to a metro ride — I have been exploring differences between a car ride within a city Vs a metro ride :
- A car ride is a solitary activity especially if you are being driven around — you sit in the rear seat, look at the phone and wait for the crawl to get over
- A car ride is potentially framed as a travel from point A to point B — a lengthier option with typically a scramble at the end because well you are ..always late
Could this be reframed as a faster ride with “social pleasure” to balance the reduced comfort ? Could people come in for a coffee and then take the metro — could metro stations be music concert venues ? could metro stations have fun zones for children ? could they have creches where you can drop your kids and pick up them up on the way back ?
